Collisions between snowmobiles and trail grooming machines have been increasing at an alarming rate. The danger is so great in some high traffic trail areas, groomers will only operate at night, when the traffic is lower, and the glow of the groomer's lights can be seen, over hills and around curves.

We at Collett Electronics want to do our part to make things safer for snowmobilers and groomer operators. Therefore we provide, free of charge, a device we call a Groomer Warning Beacon to anyone operating a trail grooming machine in Canada and the United States.

This device transmits a warning signal on the International Channel of our Platinum 900. The warning sounds like a "dee-da, dee-da, dee-da" and it indicates that somewhere within a 1/2 mile radius a trail groomer is working. It can be around the next curve, over the next hill, or just about to enter the trail in front of you ... so be prepared to stop! You should also do your best to warn any snowmobilers not equipped with a Platinum 900 that a trail groomer is near.

The Groomer Warning Beacon is an adjunct to safety only, it is not a replacement for vigilance and good judgement on your part, or for proper supervision of young riders. As well, not every trail groomer can be counted on to be equipped with a Groomer Warning Beacon. You are still responsible for operating your snowmobile safely.

In Canada, the Groomer Warning Beacons are dispersed by Collett Electronics. In the United States, by the American Council of Snowmobile Associations.
